Relationship help! needed?

my boyfriend left me over a year ago. but he still occasionally tried to text me etc to keep me stinging along. how do I stand up to not let this keep happening? he never officially said we were broken up he just one day stopped talking to me, for months and then he just appears and starts the pain for me all over again I want him back, but what can I do to be strong and to make him want me.? note we were frineds for 10 years and dated for 4 and engaged for 3 months.:( I miss him soo also we are both 37 years old and he still lives at home and I since then moved back to Florida. what are my options? I still cry everyday, I'm not sure i'll get over this ever!
